French filmmaker Jean Paul Civeyrac’s new feature is a thoughtful cinephile coming-of-age drama that tells the story of a student from Lyon studying film in Paris. Shot in black and white and focusing on the existential trials of student life, A Paris Education purposefully recounts the films of the French New Wave.
A Paris Education opens August 31 at Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York and is coming soon to select cities.
