The Fordham College Alumni Association Journalism Scholars Award
This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to the Fordham College junior or senior who demonstrates the most interest and promise in becoming as a journalist. The scholarship recipient will have a knowledge of journalism, experience reporting and writing, and an interest in pursuing a career in the field. Applications will be judged on presentation, content, writing skill and experience to date. This award is funded through proceeds from the book, Fordham University & the United States: A History, by Debra Caruso Marrone, FCRH ’81 and will be awarded each school year on October 1st.
Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year at Fordham College Rose Hill in 2019-2020. Applications must be emailed by May 15th to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The application consists of:
1) A cover note detailing for the award committee why you should receive this award. Include your inspiration to study journalism, your experience doing so to date and your aspirations for the future. Also include contact information (name, address, phone, email, date of birth).
2) A resume detailing your education and your work experience, most notably any internships or paid positions related to journalism.
3) A sample of (up to three) stories written by you and published by a college or professional media outlet. Include links to online source. For large video or audio files, save to google drive and share with email@example.com.
